Commerce Ministry has urged different ministries and departments to take necessary measures to keep on the production, import and transportation of essential commodities, including rice, lentil, oil, onion, sugar, garlic and ginger, water, baby food, other foodstuffs, masks, hand sanitiser and all medical and electronic goods.
In a letter dated April 22, the ministry requested Bangladesh Bank, National Board of Revenue (NBR), Public Security Division of the Home Ministry, Shipping Ministry, Posts and Telecommunication Ministry and Chattogram Port to issue necessary directives to their departments concerned to extend support to continue the production, import, release, transport and warehouse services of the essential goods.
In compliance with the request, Bangladesh Bank in a circular on Sunday asked all the banks to provide services to producers, importers and transporters to ensure that the supply chain of the essential goods continues unhindered.
