A fire that broke out on the top floor of a high rise building in Dhaka’s Topkhana Road earlier this morning is now under control.
Rashid Bin-Khalid, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters media cell, said the fire originated from the 14th floor of the 15-storey ‘Merherba Plaza’ on Topkhana Road around 7:33 am.
Responding to call, four firefighting units from several stations rushed to the spot and brought the blaze around 8:15 am, he said, adding that the flame was extinguished around 8:25 am.
Though two men and one woman were stranded in the building due to smoke, they were rescued from there, the fire service officer said.
The origin of the fire and damages caused by it will be known upon investigation, the duty officer added.
Yesterday morning, a fire broke out on the ground floor of a six storey building in Dhaka’s Chawkbazar area, though firefighters tamed the blaze later.
