Dhaka, Mar 29 (UNB) – Hafizur Rahman Khan, a freedom fighter and the elder brother of BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, passed away early Friday. He was 81.
Hafizur, who had been suffering from various old-age complications, breathed his last at United Hospital in the city around 4:25am, said BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
He is survived by three sons, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Hafizur’s first namaz-e-janaza was held at Banani DOHS Jam-e-Masjid after Zohr prayers.
He was buried at Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard in Dhaka's Mirpur after his second janaza held at a mosque near the graveyard after Asr prayers.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock at his death.
In a condolence message, he prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
