A fire that broke out at a garment factory in the city's Shyamoli area in the early hours of Tuesday has been brought under control, officials said.
The fire started around 5.30am in the sewing section on the seventh floor of the unit belonging to Goldstar Garments Ltd.
Five fire tenders were pressed into service and it took them nearly an hour to douse the flames, said Rozina Islam, Duty Officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported, she said.
The fire originated from an electrical short-circuit on the floor and it gutted equipment and materials worth Tk 20 lakh, said the fire service official, citing a preliminary probe.
