Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shahab Uddin on Thursday said that the government is emphasizing the agriculture sector to reduce the economic damage caused by the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
The minister came up with the remarks while distributing money for seeds, saplings and agricultural instruments among farmers at Baralekha Upazila Parishad conference room in Moulvibazar, said a press release.
The government is providing different stimulus packages including fertilizer, seeds and money to the farmers and this process will continue, he said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has requested not to leave any land abandoned, he said adding that “The government is trying to regain the past time when country’s economy was based on the agriculture.”
There will be no food scarcity in Bangladesh due to the measures taken by the government even during the crisis of Covid-19, the minister said.
