The minister came up with the remarks while talking to journalists at the secretariat, responding to widespread criticism over the country’s health system.
US and Europe failed to manage the outbreak despite having developed health system and large economy, he said adding that “Health Minister of Netherlands resigned while a German minister committed suicide.”
“With limited resources in our country, we are fighting Covid-19 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” Mahmud said.

There were some mismanagement and problem at the beginning but that has been resolved now and the government is now working uniformly which resulted in one of the lowest death rates, the minister said.
Referring to criticism over health sector at the parliament, he said, “The way the discussion was held in front of the health minister and in presence of the Prime Minister, is the beauty of democracy.”
Thus the democratic system and democracy march ahead, he added.
