This will also decrease the need to visit land offices for service, Land Secretary Md Mustafizur Rahman said on Sunday while presiding over a coordination meeting with the divisional commissioners at the secretariat.

Land issues including online land development tax, e-mutation, digital record room, inter-district land disputes, construction of land offices, manpower recruitment were discussed in the meeting.

Earlier, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury had given a directive on starting hearing through video conferencing.

The primary work of the ministry is policy-making and the process would be faster if the field-level problems could be resolved at the spot, the land secretary said.

To make the land mutation process simpler, minimise fraudulence and litigation, the government took several reform initiatives, including digitising the mutation system by introducing e-mutation.

The system allows applicants to change the title of the ownership of land from the previous to the current owner using an online platform, says Brac Institute of Governance and Development.

“Court fees are also paid through mobile financial services including bKash, UCash, and Rocket. Applicants are notified through SMS on each stage of the application and can track their application status on the official website using the tracking number.”
