Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury assured the recognised freedom fighters of the BGB and their families of full support and cooperation in the future.
He made the remark while speaking at the ‘BGB Day-2024’ at the Border Conference Centre of the BGB in Dhaka’s Pilkhana on Monday.
Earlier, a ceremony was held to honor the meritorious service of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel over the past year and to recognise the bravery of freedom fighters, their descendants, and families.

At the event, the adviser adorned 33 BGB members with medals in recognition of their outstanding work in the last year.
This year, 12 BGB members were awarded Border Guard Bangladesh Medal (BGBM), 24 President Border Guard Medal (PBGM), 12 Border Guard Bangladesh Medal-Service (BGBMS) and 24 President Border Guard Medal-Service (PBGMS).
Earlier, as part of the state mourning for the passing of Adviser A. F. Hassan Ariff, the national flag was flown at half-mast at the BGB headquarters, and a minute of silence was observed during the BGB Day ceremony.

Later, BGB Director General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui hoisted the regimental flag at the BGB headquarters at 6:30 am and paid tribute to the brave martyrs of the Great Liberation War by placing a wreath at the 'Border Pride' memorial in Pilkhana at 6:50 am.
