“We collectively want to take Bangladesh Police to a place where people will show true love, respect and appreciation to the force,” he said while addressing a five-day-long workshop programme at Police Headquarters.
The IGP also mentioned that people’s love and respect can’t be bought, rather these need to be earned, said a press release.
Regarding policemen’s role in tackling the coronavirus pandemic, IGP Benazir said members of the force have been standing by the people since the very first day of coronavirus outbreak.
Members of Bangladesh Police put their lives at risk and got infected with the virus to a large extent, Benazir said, adding that a total of 44 valiant policemen died of Covid-19.
He prayed for forgiveness of the departed souls and expressed condolence to the bereaved families.
The Innovation and Best Practice Unit of Bangladesh Police organised the programme in a bid to receive opinions from the policemen at all levels.
The IGP was speaking as president of the concluding session of the five-day workshop.
All policemen, from constable to inspector rank, took part in the workshop divided into five clusters.
They wrote their opinion in scripts and submitted those to the organisers.
