Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Monday ordered that vehicles carrying sacrificial animals should not be stopped on the roads, unless there is a specific complaint.
Besides, he also gave order not to allow unfit and expired vehicles to ply the highways in order to maintain order in traffic ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.
The IGP gave the directives during speech at a meeting on overall law and order, road, railway and waterway security and traffic management on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha at the Hall of Pride of Police Headquarters this (Monday) afternoon.

The IGP said, in order to maintain discipline in traffic, unfit and expired vehicles will not be allowed to ply on the highways.
He urged to the concerned to hang a banner mentioning the name of the destination/animal market in front of the vehicle during transportation of sacrificial animals by road or sea.
The IGP requested to call the nearest police station or the National Emergency Service on 999 if anyone try to obstruct the transport of the sacrificial animal.

The top officer of Bangladesh police ordered installation of fake money detection machines in animal markets to prevent counterfeit money.
He also directed the highway police and the district police to ensure smooth movement of homebound people.
The chief of the police force said to the owners-workers that many times it is seen that the driver of the car does not drive the car but lets the helper drive the car. This leads to the risk of accidents. He requested the owners and workers to be vigilant in this regard.

He also appealed to everyone not to travel in goods vehicles or trucks.
IGP directed police officials to take action against Aggyan Party, Malam Party.
He directed to take adequate security measures at the main Eid Jamaat centers of the country.

The IGP also directed to take up the security of the recreation center as many people will visit recreation centers during Eid holidays.
Chaired by IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, the meeting was attended among others, by senior officers of police headquarters, heads of different police units and representatives of intelligence agencies and various stakeholders.
