Welcoming the newly-appointed High Commissioner, the President said India is not only Bangladesh's closest neighbour but also a loyal friend. Alognisde, he gratefully recalled India's cooperation in the 1971 War of Liberation.
President Hamid said India's relationship with Bangladesh is very good. This relationship has expanded beyond the diplomatic sphere to trade, investment, education, culture and more.
He hoped that the newly-appointed High Commissioner would make every effort to utilise every potential field for the development of relations between the two countries.
Doraiswami said that India attaches great importance to the development of relations with Bangladesh.
He said Bangladesh would get the corona vaccine produced in India in time.
The new High Commissioner sought the full cooperation of the President during his tenure.
Secretary to the President's Office Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Shamim Uz Zaman, Foreign Secretary Masud bin Momen and Secretary to the President's Office (additional ) Wahidul Islam Khan were present on the occasion.
