Regarding police permission, he said, "Police permission is not required for funerals.”
Deputy Commissioner (North) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Azbahar Ali Sheikh said, "We have not yet given permission to Jamaat to perform gayebana janaza. There is a fear of chaos or violence centring the funeral. We will take a decision on this after taking everything into consideration.”
