An activist of Jubo Dal was reportedly killed as his motorbike overturned after being chased by police during a blockade in Dakkhin Surma upazila of Sylhet district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Zillur Rahman, 40, son of Elias Mia of Golapganj upazila. He was a member of Golapganj Jubo Dal Convening Committee.
Meanwhile, Sylhet District and Metropolitan Unit Jubo Dal called a daylong hartal for Wednesday protesting the death of Dilu, said Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury, president of Sylhet district unit BNP.
A motorbike carrying Zillur overturned after being chased by police at 9 am while crossing Lalabazar area.
Later, he was taken to Osmani Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him dead around 1 pm.

Zillur was arrested after being injured and died under police custody, said Emran Ahmed, general secretary of Sylhet district unit BNP.
Azbahar Ali Sheikh, deputy commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, said Zillu along with others were picketing in the area.
Being chased by police, his motorbike hit a tree, leaving two injured, he said, adding that he was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
