A madrasa girl met a tragic end and her maternal uncle also sustained severe injuries in a road accident in Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur on Monday.
Jannatul Nayeema, 8, was daughter of Mojammel Miah in Birampur upazila of the same district and a class IV student of Paushgara Fazil Madrasa in the Hakimpur upazila.

Witnesses and the family members said Moniruzzaman was taking his nephew to her madrasa by a motorbike around 9am.
They fell off the bike on the ground as it crashed into an electric pole while overtaking a tractor at Dangapara Bazar.

The speeding tractor ran over the duo from behind leaving them critically injured, they said, adding that the injured were rushed to Birampur Upazila Health Complex where physicians declared the nephew dead. The uncle is undergoing treatment there.

Hakimpur Police Station’s Inspector (investigation) SM Jahangir Alam said they seized the tractor but its driver managed to escape.
A case was filed in this connection, he added.
