A 33-year-old woman and her 10-year-old daughter were found dead at their house in Dhaka’s West Merul Badda today.
The deceased were identified as Bristi Akter, wife of SM Selim, and their daughter Sanja Marwa, student of a local madrasa.
Sub-Inspector Sadek Mia of Badda Police Station said that upon getting information from the emergency number 999, police recovered the bodies of Brishti and Sanja around 1:15 am.

Later, they were taken to a local hospital, where the doctors declared them dead, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital Police camp.
Police suspected that both of them were strangled to death. They also arrested Selim in this connection.
Sohel Shikdar, maternal uncle of Bristi, said that Selim had long been involved in an extramarital relationship.
Selim and Bristi would often have fights over the issue, and the former often tortured his wife, he added.
The couple has another daughter, who is eight months old.
