A Chuadanga court on Thursday sentenced a man to life term in jail in a case over seizing drugs from his house in Sadar upazila of Chuadanga around three years back.
The convict is Mohammad Rafique, 40, of Alukadia union in the Sadar upazila.
Chuadanga District and Sessions Judge Zia Haider also fined the convict Tk 20, 0100, in default of which he will have to serve one more month’s jail, said the court’s Public Prosecutor Belal Uddin.
According to the case statement, on information a team of Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) conducted a drive at the house of the convict at Doulatdiader village in the upazila on March 4, 2020.

The team recovered 19 ampules of buprenorphine injection during the drive and detained Rafique in this connection.
Later, a case was filed accusing him with the Sadar Police Station.
The investigation officer of the case submitted chargesheets in the case on June 15 of the same year.
