Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Saturday asked the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3, as a steep pressure gradient kept persisting over the North Bay and adjoining areas.
In a warning message, the BMD said “squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.”
Besides not venturing into the deep sea, all fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay were advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
