Dhaka, Mar 13 (UNB) – No Bangladeshi airline uses Boeing 737 MAX type aircraft, said Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab) on Wednesday.
Caab came up with the assertion following the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines jet shortly after its takeoff from Addis Ababa on March 10, killing 149 passengers and eight crewmembers on board.
Caab Public Relations Officer M Rezaul Karim said apart from local companies, no foreign airline uses any Boeing 737 MAX plane in Bangladesh.
The Ethiopia crash happened six minutes after the months-old Boeing 737 MAX-8 aircraft took off from the airport.
Another plane of the same model was involved in a crash less than five months ago when a Lion Air Flight crashed into the sea near Indonesia with nearly 190 people on board.
