Officials of the state-owned hydrocarbon corporation said the matter came to their notice on Sunday afternoon.
After the hacking, the cyber criminals put their notice on the website, saying “Hacked by N33LOB33”. They, however, said, “Your All Data Are Safe”.
Petrobangla officials could not identify as to who were responsible for hacking their website.
Petrobangla public relations officer Tariqul Islam said the matter was communicated to the department concerned. “They’ve now blocked it from the server. They hoped that it’ll be possible to recover the site by Monday,” he told UNB.
Petrobangla is the country’s prime public organisation in the energy sector which deals with both upstream and downstream hydrocarbon business, including oil and gas exploration, coal and other minerals mining, gas import, transmission and distribution.
It has over 12 subordinate companies involved in upstream and downstream energy business.
