Pirgachha Society' a social organisation in Rangpur's Pirgachha Upazila, has undertaken a Tree Plantation Programme with the slogan 'The air of the country, the soil of the country will be made pure by planting trees'.

A three-day Tree Plantation Programme supervised by its President Abu Jayed Ansary started on June 20 and continued till June 22.

The members of the organization planted various types of fruits, herbs and forest trees in the educational institutions of various unions of the upazila - Madrasas, mosques, school-college premises.

Under the overall management of Vice President Khairul Mostak Sumon and Habibur Rahman Shamim 'Tree planting and distribution activities' were conducted by the organization's Secretary Engineer Abdullah Al Mamun, senior Vice President Shahadat Hossain, organizational secretary Belayet Hossain, treasurer Abdur Rauf, education and cultural secretary Golam Azam, local volunteers including one of the society's members Masudul Haque.

Besides, a campaign was conducted in various places of Tambulpur, Kandirhat and Kaikuri Unions of the upazila to encourage the people about the role of trees in protecting the environment.

During this time, saplings of various types of trees including mango, guava, and Arjun were distributed among people of different classes and occupations.

The organization has been conducting various social activities including protecting the environment of the area, helping the needy, conducting relief activities among the victims, providing one-time assistance to destitute students, assisting in the rehabilitation of the disabled.

Pirgachha Society has been playing a leading role in building a beautiful society by involving people of various professions in these activities.
