Such a decision was taken at a virtual meeting at Power Division, with State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid in the chair, against the backdrop of allegations from consumers that they are receiving wrong and exaggerated bills.
The meeting formed a task force headed by an additional secretary to deal with the matter of inflated electricity bills.
The meeting also decided not to force the consumers pay inflated electricity bills and the managing directors of different power distribution companies will brief media to clarify their position to the consumers.

The meeting reviewed the progress in the implementation of the projects under annual development programme (ADP) of the power department and its subordinate departments and companies through.
It was learnt that a total of 104 projects are being implemented in the 2019-20 FY, 87 are by the funding by the government while 11 by the project aid and six by the own funding from concerned bodies.
As of May this year, the Power Division made 72.38 percent financial achievement and 80.71 percent physical achievement in the implementation of ADB project and hoped the achievement would reach 90 percent by June 30.
Power Secretary Dr Sultan Ahmed, PDB Chairman Md Belayet Hossain, REB Chairman Major General (Retd) Moin Uddin, Power Cell Director General Mohammad Hossain and managing directors of companies were present at the virtual meeting.
