Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmed Kaikaus chaired the meeting.
Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners joined the meeting remotely from their respective offices.
The meeting was informed that a list of the homeless and landless poor people was prepared to implement the Prime Minister’s directive that “No one will remain homeless in Bangladesh.”
According to the list, there are 293,000 homeless and landless families in the country - including 39,574 families in Dhaka Division.
The meeting was informed that as per directive of the Prime Minister, the first phase of rehabilitation for the homeless and landless people has already started.
In today's meeting, the Principal Secretary gave necessary guidelines to properly complete the construction of 59,803 homes in the first phase at a cost Tk 1022.62 crore.
The meeting was apprised of the progress on the ongoing activities under Asrayan Project-2 of the Prime Minister’s Office, Construction of houses tolerant to disaster under the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief as well as Guchhagram Project-Second Phase under the Land Ministry.
The meeting was informed that an eight member monitoring committee headed by Deputy Commissioner is working in every district to oversee the works.
Besides, a Task Force Committee is also working in the Upazila level with local MP or a lawmaker nominated by the government as Adviser, and headed by concerned Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
