“Medicines are being sprayed by the city corporations concerned for preventing Aedes mosquito while different organisations have carried out many awareness programmes through media to create awareness about it. Legal steps will be taken against those who will show reluctant attitude,” he said.
The Minister came up with the information while talking at an inter-ministerial meeting for controlling dengue, held at the Ministry.
Mentioning that 95 percent Aedes mosquitoes are born in homes and offices, Tazul said people should be compelled to take necessary steps to destroy Aedes mosquito and follow the rules.
Answering a question of the Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh about who will be responsible if Aedes larvae found at the government establishments, the Minister said the official concerned responsible will face action and fine.
Two mayors of Dhaka North and South City corporations --Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Atiqul Islam ---present at the meeting sought cooperation from the authorities concerned.
