A joint research team of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) and Bangladesh Biogas Development Foundation (BBDF) has successfully generated biogas from kitchen waste and municipal solid waste through dry digester without the addition of water.
The research was conducted with the financial support of the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (Sreda).
The experts, who have been involved in the research, announced the introduction of the dry digestion technology in the country through a demonstration at the SAU premises on Sunday.

The researchers said the slurry, which is produced from dry digestion, could be used as an ideal organic fertiliser through an anaerobic process to improve soils and crop yields.
SAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Shahidur Rashid Bhuiyan, Treasurer Professor Md Nazrul Islam, Sreda Chairman Mohammad Alauddin and researchers spoke at the event.
They said many European and North American countries have been using the dry digestion technology to generate biogas for cooking purposes and the slurry as fertiliser for cross production.
