Islamic University, Oct 2 (UNB) – Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general of Bangla Academy, was appointed as 'Bangabandhu Chair' Professor at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Monday night.
The decision of appointing him to the post was taken at the 242nd syndicate meeting of the university with its Vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair.
IU Pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Professor M Selim Toha, acting registrar SM Abdul Latif and, among others, were present at the meeting.
IU Pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman told UNB that they have appointed Shamasuzzaman to the post with a view to conducting research on 'Bangabandhu and Bangladesh' during his tenure so that the new generation could know more about the Father of the Nation.
Born in Manikganj district, Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan was the director general of Bangladesh National Museum and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The 'Bangabandhu Chair' was established at IU Bangla department on 20 July 2017.
