A 20-year-old youth died and his father injured from electrocution in Jashor’e Chowgacha upazila Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Tanvir Hasan Shimul, son of Jahangir Alam, 42, of Laskarpur village under Sadar union in the upazila.

Shimul’s father was undergoing treatment at 250-bed Jashore General Hospital with injuries from electric shock.
The cousin of the deceased BM Ujjal Hossain Roni said that Shimul and his father were cutting straw for cows using a locally made machine.
Suddenly, Shimul received an electric shock around 9am. As his father came to his rescue, he also got an electric shock, Ujjal said.

The neighbours rescued them and took them to Chowgacha Upazila Health Complex, where doctors in the emergency department of the hospital declared Tanvir dead on arrival.
Later, Jahangir Alam was shifted to Jashore 250-bed general hospital as his condition deteriorated.
