Two young girls have reportedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in Mohammadpur upazila of Magura on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Baishakhi, 13, daughter of Imroze Sheikh of Charpachuria village and Swapna, 10, daughter of Hasmat Molla of Chakulia village.
Family members said Baishakhi engaged in an altercation with her younger sister at noon. Being mentally upset, she, at one stage, entered her room and hanged herself from the ceiling.
Later, she was rescued and rushed to a local hospital where doctors pronounced the seventh grader dead.
In another incident, Swapna took her own life by hanging herself at her residence in the morning.
Before committing the suicide, she was playing with her associates, said the family members.
Tarek Biswas, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station, confirmed the information, saying police visited the spots.
“Further action will be taken after looking into the incidents,” he added.
