Police arrested three people from different parts of the district on Sunday in connection with the murder of former UP member Aminul Gazi.
The arrestees are Anwar Pada, father-in-law of slain Aminul Gazi, Nizam, brother-in-law and Amzad.
Mohamamd Mainul Islam, superintendent of Patuakhali Police said police arrested the trio from different parts of the district.
Aminul Gazi alias Dilip Gazi, 50, former UP member of Lalua union ,was killed by miscreants on October 21. Later, victim’s wife filed a case with Kalapara Police Station.
After interrogation, police came to know that Aminul's father-in-law Anwar hired his another son-in-law Nizam and Amzad at Tk 2 lakh for killing Aminul to grab his asset, said the SP.
The arrestees came to visit Aminul’s house on October 21 and strangled him to death after giving him poison.
