 The Indian High Commission in Dhaka said New Delhi will continue to do its best to support the vaccine rollout in neighbouring countries, noting that there is a huge demand for it against inadequate supply.

"In short, we can only share what’s actually available. And the fact is that there’s a huge amount of demand and not enough supply," said the High Commission.  

The High Commission came up with the assurance in response to some media's reports "misquoting" High Commissioner Vikram Kumar Doraiswami when he met a few media personnel at Akhaura border on Thursday.

The High Commission said it is important to keep in mind that there is a huge wave of the pandemic underway in India.

As the production is increased to meet the increased demand in India and globally, it will be possible to boost supplies, said the High Commission. 

Bangladesh has received 7 million doses of vaccines through its contract plus 3.3 mn as bilateral partnership gift.

This is the largest amount sent from India to any country.

"We’ve said we would do our best to meet everyone's needs, subject to limits of production, domestic demands, and other obligations," the High Commission added.
