Police recovered a woman’s body from a pond in Kushtia’s Mirpur upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Razia Khatun Sumi, 28, wife of Rakib Ali, from Krishnapur village of Fulbari union in Mirpur upazila under Kushtia.

She was mother of two children.
Police have arrested a man named Nazrul Islam, son of late Badsha Pramanik from the same village for interrogation.

Rakib Ali, husband of the deceased, said, "we were sleeping at our house a call came on Sumi’s mobile phone. She left the room to receive the phone call and didn’t return.”
Later, after searching, we found her body floating in a pond near our house, Rakib said.
He demanded strict punishment for those involved in the murder.

Mirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafikul Islam said, confirmed the matter and said that the local people saw the body floating in the pond on Friday morning and informed the police.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
