Sarjis Alam, one of the key coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, said that offenders must be brought to justice no matter who they are.
"If the police are not prosecuted, then the prosecution of any other citizen of the country also becomes questionable," he said.
He said these things during an exchange of views with the injured students and family members of the martyrs in the anti-discrimination student movement at Manikganj Shilpakala Academy this afternoon.
"The police are not outside the law. Be it the police or anyone else, whoever is guilty must be brought to justice," he stressed.
Sarjis stated that members of law enforcement directly involved in the killing will be subjected to a thorough legal investigation and prosecution.
“They must be held accountable according to the law,” he emphasized.
Sarjis condemned those who, in their overzealousness, acted outside their authority and exposed themselves to the oppressive government by exceeding their instructions.
“If anyone interferes with our efforts to seek justice, we will take a strong stand against them,” he asserted.
