The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed lower on Monday for the fourth straight day, with indexes falling under heavy selling pressure. Total transactions reached Tk 357 crore, up from Tk 303 crore on Sunday, as investors continued offloading shares.
DSE data revealed that 17.333 crore shares and units were traded across 13.133 lakh transactions on Monday. Out of 397 companies that participated, the prices of 105 companies increased, 246 declined, and 46 remained unchanged.
The main DSEX index fell by 66.86 points, closing at 4,898.52. The DSES Shariah index dropped by 20.27 points to 1,087.45, and the DS30 blue-chip index decreased by 25.10 points, ending at 1,805.89.
Top gainers based on closing prices included National Life Insurance, Esquire Knit Composite PLC, Desco, Summit Alliance Port Limited, Coppertech Industries Limited, Evince Textiles Limited, Techno Drugs Ltd, Central Insurance Company Ltd, Best Holdings Limited, and Far East Knitting & Dyeing Industries Limited.
Meanwhile, in the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the CASPI index also declined, losing 1.322 points to close at 13,821.312. A total of 192 companies traded on the CSE, with 52 companies gaining, 126 losing, and 14 remaining unchanged. The trading volume at the CSE was Tk 3.30 crore, down from Tk 4.25 crore on the previous day.
