Agriculture Minister and Awami League Presidium Member Dr Md Abdur Razzaque has been elected MP in the 12th parliamentary elections from Tangail-1 (Dhanbari-Madhupur) constituency for the fifth consecutive time.

He won seat as a nominee of Awami League with 1,74,122 votes where his nearest rival independent candidate Khandaker Anwarul Haque got only 4,178 votes.
Dr Md Abdur Razzaque served as Minister of Food and Disaster Management from 2009 to 2012 and then, as Minister of Food until 2013.
He has been the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Finance since 2014.
He has also been serving as a presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League since 2016.
