Describing the cutting of rail tracks in Gazipur as an act of sabotage, BNP on Wednesday demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident to find out the perpetrators.
In a statement, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also feared the incident was carried out in a planned way to shift the blame onto the opposition.
"The derailment of seven coaches of a train near Bhawal Railway Station is undoubtedly an act of sabotage. I condemn this incident,” he said.
The BNP leader also said those who have committed such inhumane incident are enemies of humanity.
"We demand an impartial judicial investigation into the incident. On behalf of BNP, I demand the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the miscreants involved in the derailment of the train,” Rizvi said.
He prayed for the salvation of the departed soul of the deceased who was killed in the accident and the speedy recovery of the injured.

In the statement, Rizvi said, some media outlets are trying to shift the blame for the train accident onto the opposition parties who are crying out a movement for the restoration of democracy. "It’s deeply conspiratorial. It proves, and people believe, that this type of sabotage has been carried out in a planned way.”
He claimed that some media outlets have started spreading vile propaganda against the ongoing democratic movement of the opposition parties over the train accident to punish one for another's sin.
A man was killed and five people were injured as seven bogies of a train derailed at Bankharia near Gazipur Railway Station early Wednesday, the last day of the 36-hour rail, road, and waterway blockade enforced by BNP and other opposition parties.
