BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday called upon all the opposition parties to unite and put aside their 'misunderstandings' to dislodge the Awami League government.
"The country’s economic, political and law and order situation is awful while corruption everywhere and the prices of commodities are unbearable,” he said.
Speaking at an iftar party, the BNP leader said political parties have a great responsibility to get the country out of this terrible situation.
“We have to fulfil this responsibility. We must all unite to restore human rights, people's right to vote and give democracy an institutional shape. That is why we’re always talking about national unity,” Fakhrul observed.
Jatiya Party (Qazi Zafar), one of the components of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, arranged the iftar programme at a convention centre in the city’s Gulshan area.
