Dhaka, Nov 4 (UNB) – The High Court on Sunday instructed the Election Commission to register ‘Trinamul BNP’ of Barrister Nazmul Huda as a political party.
The HC bench of Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Md Shohrowardi came up with the order following a petition.
Nazmul Huda stood for himself while deputy attorney general Amatul Karim represented the state.
On November 20, Nazmul Huda, a former minister, launched 'Trinamool BNP', saying the Khaleda Zia-led BNP has failed to perform as a political party.
On August 14, the HC issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why the authorities concerned should not be directed to registrar ‘Trinamul BNP’ of Barrister Nazmul Huda as a political party.
The Election Commission on June 14 sent a notice to Nazmul Huda where it shows three reasons for not registering his party.
Later, Nazmul Huda filed a writ petition challenging the EC notice.
