Bangladesh advanced to the pre-quarter of the recurve women’s team event of the Archery World Cup 2022, Stage-1 on the 2nd day of the meet held in Antalya of Turkey on Thursday.
Bangladesh recurve women’s team, which finished 12th among the 19 teams scoring 1859 in the qualification round, reached the pre-quarterfinal after getting bye in the elimination (knock out) round.
Bangladesh women’s recurve team, comprising Diya Siddiqui, Fahima Sultana Nisha and Nasrin Akhter will play in Italy in the event’s pre-quarterfinal.

Bangladesh men’s recurve team consisting of Sagar Islam, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Ruman Shana, finished 16th among 25 teams scoring 1932 in the qualification round and will face Croatia in the elimination round of 12.
Bangladesh recurve mixed team studded with Sagar Islam and Diya Siddiqui was also placed 16th among 28 teams scoring 1285. They will play Romania in the round of 12 on Friday.
Earlier in the qualification round of men’s recurve division, 110 archers took part.
Sagar Islam of Bangladesh finished 29th scoring 657, Hakim Ahmed Rubel of Bangladesh was placed 59th scoring 648 while Ruman Shana of Bangladesh finished 86th scoring 627.
In the elimination round of 64, Sagar Islam beat Boussouni Omar of Morocco by 7-1 sets, Hakim Rubel defeated Cerni Lovro of Croatia by 6-2 sets while Ruman Shana outplayed James Woodgate of Great Britain by 6-0 sets to qualify for the round of 32.

In the round of 32 on Friday, Sagar Islam will play Salsabilla Riau of Indonesia, Hakim Rubel will face Nespoli Mauro of Italy while Ruman Shana will meet Maras Efe Gurkan of hosts Turkey.
In the qualification of women’s recurve division, a total 88 archers took part.
Diya Siddiqui of Bangladesh finished 40th scoring 628, Fahmida Sultana Nisha was placed 52nd scoring 620 while Nasrin Akhter finished 64th scoring 611.
In the event’s elimination round of 32 on Friday, Diya Siddiqui will play Umer Ana of Slovenia, Nisha will face Adiceom Audrey of France while Nasrin will meet Peng Chin –Mao of Chinese Taipei.
