The Bangladesh cricket team incurred a fine of 5% of their match fee for falling short of maintaining the required over rate during their clash against England in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup on Tuesday in Dharamsala.
This penalty came as an added blow as Bangladesh lost the match against England by a big margin.

The penalty was imposed by Javagal Srinath, a member of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, after Shakib Al Hasan’s squad was found to be one over behind the designated rate, accounting for any allowances for time.
As per Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, addressing minimum over-rate infringements, players face a 5 percent fine of their match fees for each over not bowled within the stipulated time.

Shakib, the Bangladesh captain, acknowledging the transgression, admitted guilt and accepted the proposed penalty. This rendered a formal hearing unnecessary.
