Sports Minister Nazmul Hassan paid a visit to the residence of Kazi Salahuddin, the president of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), on Tuesday.
The meeting between two influential figures in Bangladesh's sporting landscape unfolded against a backdrop of strained relations. Nearly a year ago, they engaged in a public altercation.
Salahuddin, who recently underwent bypass surgery, is undergoing rehabilitation under medical supervision.
Following the meeting, Salahuddin refrained from addressing the media. However, Nazmul held a media interaction, expressing his concern for Salahuddin's health and wishing him a speedy recovery.
"By the grace of Allah, he appears to be in good spirits," remarked Nazmul, commenting on Salahuddin's condition. "It was heartening to see him up and about. However, recovery will require some time."
Juggling dual responsibilities as both the Minister of Youth and Sports and the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Nazmul affirmed his commitment to readying the Bangabandhu National Stadium for football events. He announced plans to personally inspect the revered venue shortly.
"I intend to visit the stadium the day after tomorrow," he stated. "The facility has remained closed for an extended period. I am determined to identify suitable arrangements for hosting football matches."
