German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has criticised the US decision to ease sanctions on Russian oil, calling the move “wrong.”
Speaking during a visit to Norway, Merz said, “We believe it is wrong to ease sanctions now. There is currently a problem with prices, but not with supply. In that respect, I would like to know what other factors led the US government to take this decision.”
He also stressed that Germany would not be “deterred or distracted” from its support for Ukraine despite the ongoing Iran conflict.
