Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal 3 as the low pressure over the northwest Bay and adjoining areas has intensified into a well-marked low.
It is likely to intensify further and move north-westwards, said the weather department in a bulletin.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
They were also advised not to venture into the deep sea during the period.

Well-marked low over Bay likely to weaken: Met Office
The well-marked low over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area is likely to weaken gradually, said the weather department on Wednesday.
Under its influence, deep convection is also taking place over North Bay and adjoining area, the Met office said in a special bulletin.

Besides, monsoon is strong over North Bay, it added.
Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No 3.
"All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice," the department said.

They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea, it added.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy showers at places over the country, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted at local cautionary signal No 3 to alert vessels of a possible squall although the land depression weakened into a well-marked low.
The Land Depression over South Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area of India moved further westnorthwestwards, weakened into a Well-marked low and lay centred over central part of Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area, said a special bulletin of the Met office on Tuesday morning.

It is likely to weaken further, it added.

Meanwhile, Low-lying areas of coastal districts and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by tidal surges.
These districts are Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jahalakathi, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barishal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar.

The well-marked low over northwest Bay and adjoining coastal area intensified into a depression and lies over northeast Bay off West Bengal-North Odisha coast and adjoining areas, said Met office on Sunday.
“It is likely to move northwestwards,” according to a special bulletin of the Met office.
Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, north Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh. Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No 3.

Under the influence of the full moon and steep pressure gradient, the low-lying areas of the coastal districts and their offshore island and chars are likely to be inundated by the wind driven surge height of 2-4 feet above normal astronomical tide, it added.
The districts are Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barishal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

Well-marked low over Bay intensified into depression
The well-marked low over Southeast Bay and adjoining South Andaman Sea moved slightly Northwestwards and intensified into a depression.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a Northwesterly direction, said a bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
Around 12 pm Saturday it was located about 1425 Kms south of Chattogram Port, 1340 Kms South of Cox’s Bazar Port, 1460 Kms South-Southeast of Mongla Port and 1405 Kms South-Southeast of Payra port.
The maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 KPH rising to 50 KPH in gusts .
However sea will remain moderate near the depression center.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a Northwesterly direction, said a Met office bulletin.
The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to follow necessary instructions.

Trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area.
Besides, the Met office predicted that rain or thunder showers accompanied by intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
