CA's Press Wing ditches Ananda Bazar's story on Bangladesh Army
Chief Adviser’s Press Wing has categorically refuted a recent report published by the Indian newspaper Ananda Bazar Patrika regarding the Bangladesh Army.
In a post on its verified Facebook page on Friday, the Press Wing said that the report contained misleading information and misrepresented facts about Bangladesh’s military.
The post said that Indian media is employing techniques of what has become known as hybrid warfare to support the country’s long-time proxy, Sheikh Hasina, and to attempt to discredit the people and institutions of Bangladesh that in July and August brought her despotic rule to an end.
Dr Yunus urges Meta to intensify efforts against misinformation, fake news
“Hybrid war uses information operations – known as disinformation – to divide its targets both internally and from its natural friends and allies. A disinformation operation typically begins with an entirely fabricated story, with no evidence and views attributed to unnamed people, planted in a friendly or pliable media outlet. If it is sufficiently juicy, the made-up story will be picked up by other media and gain apparent credibility as it spreads. Eventually, people who are interested in what’s going on in the world but too busy to delve into the details may come to believe the story that began as nothing more than a glimmer in a propagandist’s eye. The disinformation operation has succeeded entirely when people who believe the malign fiction are moved to act against the propagandist’s adversary,” the post said.
“In this case, the adversary is the people of Bangladesh and their desire to govern the affairs of their own sovereign country; the willing mouthpiece is Ananda Bazar. Its (your) story about the Bangladesh army has no more basis in reality than a Bollywood romcom. You must choose whether to practice journalism, based on collecting evidence of what is actually happening in the world, or to propagate malign fictions as part of a campaign to undermine the sovereignty and dignity of a friendly neighbor,” the Press Wing added.

Authorities in Bangladesh continue to monitor the dissemination of false or misleading information and have called for greater cooperation among regional media to prevent the spread of baseless narratives.

Dhaka trashes India.com’s report against Dr Yunus, interim govt
The news published on India.com is "false and part of an Indian-orchestrated propaganda campaign" against Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, his family members and the interim government of Bangladesh, said Chief Adviser's press wing on Friday.
Dr Yunus did not donate any money to the Hillary Clinton Foundation as claimed in the post, said its fact-checking wing.

His friendship with the Clintons has not benefited his daughter, Monica Yunus, and, contrary to the claim, she never held any position in Joe Biden's administration, said the CA's press wing.
The report of Prof Yunus receiving millions of dollars in loans while Hillary Clinton served as US Secretary of States is also false, it said in a Facebook post.

CA's Press Wing quashes rumours of ISI chief visiting Dhaka
The Chief Adviser's Press Wing has refuted reports emanating from India that the chief of Pakistan's premier intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence or ISI, is currently on a visit to Bangladesh.
Citing a Defence Ministry spokesman, the press wing led by press secretary Shafiqul Alam, on its factcheck page on Facebook, said: "The Chief of ISI is not visiting Bangladesh. The news circulating in press and social media is false."

Earlier on Wednesday, a report in the Economic Times, the respected Indian financial daily, said ISI chief Lieutenant General Asim Malik was visiting Dhaka with a view to creating an intelligence-sharing network between Pakistan and Bangladesh. It added that the visit marked the first time in decades that a Pakistani intelligence chief visited Dhaka.
A slew of Indian outlets proceeded to report the same, citing the ET story as the original source. That didn't stop them from adding their own layers to the story, in each case based entirely on anonymous sources.
Northeast News, an online portal, said the ISI delegation even flew to Rangpur to the area near what is known as 'the chicken neck', a particularly sensitive area for India's security concerns.

The Hindustan Times on the other hand, reported on Thursday evening that a 4-member ISI delegation is visiting Bangladesh, sans chief Lt Gen Asim Malik. It said the delegation is being led by Major General Shahid Amir Afsar, the ISI’s director general of analysis who previously served as Pakistan’s defence attache in Beijing.

Mahfuj Alam not a Hizb ut-Tahrir member, CA's press wing
The Facebook post claiming Mahfuj Alam, the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, as a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir, is not true, said Chief Adviser's press wing.
The post carried a screenshot of an article published by the English daily, The Business Standard, which referred to a man, namely Abdullah Al Mahfuz, as an alleged member of Hizb ut-Tahrir.
The accused Abdullah Al Mahfuz and Special Assistant Mahfuj Alam are two different persons, said the press wing through its fact-checking Facebook page.
The fact-checking unit of the daily Ajker Patrika cleared the matter in a report also.
Mahfuj Alam has been a key member of the student movement, which led to the mass uprising against Sheikh Hasina's "dictatorship".
He has said in a post that he was never a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir or any other outlawed or Islamist groups.
