As Covid-19 cases spike in parts of Europe, Africa and the Americas, and new variants of the virus emerge in some countries, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has called for greater global collaboration in ending the pandemic. 

Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has announced that he will reconvene the International Health Regulations Emergency Committee to advise him on whether the current coronavirus outbreak constitutes a public health emergency of international concern.
