A total of 26,695 rape cases were filed across the country in the past five years, according to a Police Headquarter report that was submitted to the High Court (HC) on Wednesday.

In line with a major reshuffle in the police administration, a total of 1,507 police officers have been transferred to Cox’s Bazar.

Police Headquarters on Saturday called upon the general public not to allow anybody to enter their houses without verifying their identity as some miscreants are committing crimes in the name of collecting information on coronavirus-infected patients and also in the name of providing emergency service.
