First 'Total Fitness Day' observed in Bangladesh
Quantum Foundation observed the first "Total Fitness Day" in Bangladesh Friday to sensitise people about "total – physical, mental, social and spiritual – fitness" to help them lead a happy and healthy life.
The foundation organised a special awareness session at the capital's Jatiya Press Club, where it arranged body balance tests, meditations, yogas, exercises, and discussions.
Also, the foundation organised such sessions in open spaces in different parts of the country. Some volunteering organisations promoting fitness and wellness also observed the day.

Hundreds of people from different professions, including artists, journalists and students, celebrated the day joining programmes at more than 120 parks in Dhaka and other district towns in the morning.
From now on, Quantum will mark the first Friday of January every year as Total Fitness Day. This year's theme of the day was "healthy body, peaceful mind, busy happy life."

Quantum Foundation honours 300 voluntary blood donors
Quantum Foundation, a voluntary blood donors' organisation, on Thursday honoured a total of 300 voluntary blood donors who have donated blood multiple times in their lifetime.
Professor Rafiq Ullah Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Sheikh Hasina University, handed over crests and certificates among them at a ceremony at Institution of Diploma Engineers, (IDEB).

He said voluntary blood donors are basically turning their bloodstream into a stream of consciousness. “And by donating blood voluntarily, they are not only benefiting one person, they are not benefiting the nation, they are benefiting the world.”
At the programme, the foundation honoured the regular blood donors in three categories – for donating at least three bags of blood, at least 25 bags and 50 bags of bloods voluntarily.
Chief-coordinator of the Quantum Foundation Madam Nahar Al Bokhari presided over the function.
The country needs about eight lakh bags of safe and healthy blood every year. Quantum has supplied one-eighth of the country's total demand for blood, she said.

Quantum has been conducting awareness raising and voluntary blood donation activities among the public since 1996 with the aim of meeting this huge demand of blood shortage.
In the last two decades, the Quantum Foundation has been able to play a role in saving the lives of more than 13 lakh people in this way.

Covid-19 burials: Quantum volunteers working through this lockdown too
The Quantum Foundation, one of the voluntary organizations in the country, is actively involved in the burials of coronavirus victims, even amidst an all-out lockdown across the country.
Thousands of Quantum volunteers are working 24 hours a day or night for the burial of the deceased, regardless of religion, said a press release from Quantum Foundation.
Despite the lockdown, relentless humanitarian service activities are going on all over the country including the capital.
Khandaker Sajibul Islam, who is in charge of Quantum Burial in Kakrail, said, "We were able to bury 20 bodies of coronavirus victim in Dhaka till night on the first day of the nationwide lockdown on July 1."

Quantum Foundation workers have buried nearly 4,000 bodies since 2020.
Quantum has been working for the burials of bodies with coronavirus or corona symptoms since the beginning of Corona in April, 2020.

World Meditation Day celebrated for the first time in Bangladesh
Bangladesh celebrated "World Meditation Day" for the first time Friday under the initiative of Quantum Foundation.
The day was observed all across Bangladesh to promote healthy, successful and happy life through reviving positivity in the soul by practising meditation.

Millions of people got immersed in meditation at 9:30am. Also, Quantum Foundation carried out a series of virtual programmes including special meditations and special discussions for people from different walks.
"The practice of meditation all across Bangladesh can turn the country into a healthy, energetic, and disciplined one. To be more empathetic, let us awaken the benevolent power within us through meditation," Quantum Foundation Coordination Director Suraiya Rahman said.

Meditation has healing power. People might experience several benefits including better sleep, less stress, and more focus from practising mindfulness meditation regularly.
One can get good health and success through regular meditation; also being stress-free leads to professional skills growth, Quantum Foundation said.

Burial of coronavirus victims: Quantum volunteers working round the clock
Hundreds of volunteers of Quantum Foundation have been performing burials of coronavirus victims according to health directives round the clock across the country.
All of the volunteers were trained and kept ready 24 hours for call to bury deceased people from COVID-19 disease, said a press release from Quantum Foundation.
Following the burial directives of Health Ministry, Islamic Foundation and the World Health Organization (WHO), Quantum volunteers reach the house or hospital to collect the body and perform all rituals accordingly.
In between April 7 and May 15, Quantum volunteers buried 129 bodies in Dhaka city and 20 outside the capital.
Quantum volunteers use personal protective equipment (PPE) while conducting burial rituals for being safe from coronavirus infection, the press release said.
Saleh Ahmed, coordinator, Quantum burial activities, said they use 80 percent alcohol, six percent hydrogen per oxide and hifo chloride solution in every burial.
After each and every burial, volunteers wash the graveyard area with disinfectant, and burn the PPE including other protective gears.
Quantum volunteer use 27 types materials during each burial— gown, mask, safety gas, face shield, surgical hand gloves, heavy gloves, neck cover, gumboot, clothes for dead body, specialized bag for carrying dead body and others, he added.
Quantum has been carrying the whole burial cost instead of taking donation from the government or charging the relatives of the deceased, Saleh Ahmed said.
Besides Muslims people, Quantum volunteers have been performing the burial of the people of Hindu religion, said Ahmed adding that they have a female volunteers’ team for burial of female coronavirus-victim.
Saleh Ahmed urged the relatives of all deceased from coronavirus to join them with compassion in the burial ceremony beside Quantum volunteers.
Besides performing burial activities, Quantum volunteers have been donating good quality PPEs to five hundred doctors and government and private hospitals in Dhaka and other parts of the country for free.
On the other hand, other volunteers of the Quantum Foundation, are making, collecting and making sets of PPEs, Saleh Ahmed added.
Earlier on March 24, WHO provided an interim guideline, "To date there is no evidence of people becoming infected from exposure to the bodies those who died from Covid-19."
Meanwhile, the Islamic Foundation of Bangladesh urged all to follow the WHO guidelines for the Namaz-e-Janaza and burial of the victims of Covid-19.
Beside volunteers of Quantum Foundation, other voluntary organisations also have been attending the burial activities of coronavirus-victims in the country.
The coronavirus situation taken a serious turn in Bangladesh has been reporting near one thousands new cases every day.
The country reported the highest number—1,273 on Sunday.
The health authority of the country has So far reported 22,268 coronavirus cases and 328 deaths.
