An assistant teacher of a government primary school was sued in a case filed on charge of raping a ninth grader in Phulbari upazila of the district on Friday. The accused has been identified as Motaleb Mia, an assistant teacher of Gorukmondal Government Primary School and son of late Chad Mia of Naodanga union in the upazila. Local Abdul Karim said the teacher developed love affairs with the girl of a local educational institution and raped her several times  promising marriage. At one stage, the girl became pregnant and put pressure on him to marry her but he intentionally delayed, he said. As the both families failed to reach consent after holding arbitration on Thursday night, the victim’s father filed the case accusing the teacher, father of two children, at the local police station on Friday morning. Though the accused went into hiding following the case, efforts are on to nab him, the OC said.   Ashrafuzzaman, acting education officer of the upazila, said legal action will be taken against him if the allegation is found true.
