Korea keen to invest in Bangladesh’s electronics manufacturing and technology sectors
Appreciating Bangladesh's rapid economic growth and investment-friendly environment, South Korean Ambassador Kim Ji-joon on Wednesday expressed his country's interest in investing in Bangladesh's electronics manufacturing and technology sectors.
He also highlighted South Korea's interest in expanding cooperation and investment in renewable energy, information technology, manufacturing, and other promising sectors.
The Ambassador discussed the issues during a meeting with the Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen the longstanding friendly relations and enhance bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and South Korea.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said both sides emphasised the importance of deepening collaboration in trade, investment, technology, industrialization, infrastructure development, human resource development, and skills enhancement.
Humaiun Kobir praised the growing economic and development partnership between Bangladesh and South Korea and underscored the need to boost trade and investment, facilitate technology transfer, and further strengthen industrial cooperation.
He welcomed increased South Korean investment in Bangladesh and assured the government's full support in facilitating such initiatives.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close cooperation on issues of mutual interest and expressed optimism about elevating Bangladesh-South Korea relations to new heights.

Dr Anisuzzaman for persistent diplomatic engagement with S Korea
Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Dr Anisuzzaman Chowdhury on Wednesday highlighted the multifaceted relations of Bangladesh and South Korea, and emphasised the continuity of the deep bilateral cooperation and the necessity of robust diplomatic engagement.
The Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organised a programme as part of its country lecture series (CLS), titled, ‘Bangladesh-South Korea Relations: Pathways for Future Cooperation’ at its auditorium.
Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Park Young-sik delivered a speech as the distinguished guest speaker.
In his lecture, the Ambassador highlighted the Bangladesh-South Korea relations and their future trajectories.
Korea and Bangladesh share a strong economic partnership that extends beyond development assistance and is grounded in robust bilateral trade and foreign direct investment, he said.
The Ambassador emphasised the common values shared between the two nations, which are rooted in mutual trust and a commitment to global peace.
Ambassador AFM Gosal Azam Sarker, Chairman of BIISS, chaired the event, and Major General Iftekhar Anis, Director General of BIISS, delivered the welcome remarks.

Dr Mahfuz Kabir, Research Director, BIISS, made a presentation on ‘Dimensions of Bangladesh-South Korea Relations’.
Senior officials from different ministries, relevant government organisations, representatives from different think tanks, academicians, businessmen, serving and retired military officials, media and students from various universities participated in the country lecture and shared their opinions, comments, suggestions, and observations during the open discussion session.

Bangladesh-Korea CSR virtual conference Sunday
A Bangladesh-South Korea conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and economic growth will be held virtually on Sunday (June 27, 2021) to discuss ways to further deepen Korean companies’ engagement with local communities.
The South Korean Embassy in Dhaka and the CSR Centre in partnership with Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Dhaka office are jointly organizing the "Korea-Bangladesh CSR Conference 2021: CSR for Human Resource Development and Economic Growth”.
The conference will be held from 5pm to 6:35pm.

Planning Minister MA Mannan will join the event as the chief guest.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is increasingly becoming important, especially for developing nations, said the Korean Embassy in Dhaka.
As Bangladesh strives towards attaining economic development with the target set out in the Sustainable Development Goals, CSR strategies and policy implementation are becoming a part of the core business strategy for private companies, it said.

Representatives from Youngone Corporation, Samsung R&D Institute (SRBD), Samsung Electronics, Hyundai E&C, and Dohwa Engineering will present their respective CSR activities in Bangladesh.
With sharing of best practices by Korean companies operating in Bangladesh, the conference aims to revisit the importance of the private sector’s role in maintaining a balanced and sustainable society as well as to promote the strong bilateral commercial ties between Korea and Bangladesh.
