Bangladesh Coast Guard detained 13 Indian fishermen Saturday noon as they illegally crossed the country's waters while fishing in the Bay of Bengal.
Coast Guard's inshore patrol vessel "Sonar Bangla," spotted foreign trawler "Shornotara," illegally fishing in Bangladesh's maritime boundary.

Sensing their presence, the fishermen tried to flee but the coast guards detained them along with the trawler from 15.4 nautical miles southwest of Mongla Fairway Buoy.
The seized trawler and the detainees were handed over to Mongla Police Station, said Bangladesh Coast Guard Media Officer Lt Commander Amirul Haque Sunday.

"A case has been filed against the Indian fishermen, and they will be produced before the Bagerhat Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Monday," Mongla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury said.
