On the occasion of the first anniversary of the historic July Revolution, the 1st International Conference on the July Revolution (ICJR-I, 2025) will be held on Sunday at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of the Dhaka University.
With the theme "The Legacy of July Revolution 2024: Rebuilding Bangladesh", the conference aims to raise awareness about the impact of the July Revolution 2024, present academic papers, conduct in-depth reviews, and envision a new phase of national development—Bangladesh 2.0.
The event will bring together 13 research and civil society organisations from home and abroad, according to a press release signed by IRGC-2025 convener Prof. Md. Shariful Islam of DU and Muhammad Asadullah, Associate Professor of the University of Regina.
The conference is jointly organised by Research and Integrated Thought (RIT), a Dhaka-based think tank, and the Department of Political Science at the University of Dhaka.
Co-organisers include multiple organisations and universities from Bangladesh and overseas.
Distinguished guests at the conference will include several advisers from the interim government.
Over 400 research papers were submitted from across the world for presentation at the conference. Following a rigorous peer-review process, 60 papers have been selected for oral presentation, and another 60 for poster sessions. These papers will be presented by professors, activists, student leaders, legal scholars, and policymakers, offering diverse insights grounded in fieldwork, lived experience, and academic research.
The conference will conclude with a theatrical performance titled "Lal July" at the TSC Auditorium.
