Divers from the local Fire Service recovered the body of a seven-year-old child from Osmanpur Kheyaghat area of Khoksa upazila in Kushtia district on Sunday, a day after two children went missing in the Gorai River.
The deceased was identified as Taiba, daughter of Faruk of Osmanpur area.
Roushan Ali, unit officer of Khoksa Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the body of one of the missing children was recovered around 9am.
However, another child, Suraiya, 8, daughter of Sohel of the same upazila, still remains missing.
On Saturday afternoon, four children went to the Gorai River for taking bath at Osmanpur ferry ghat.
At one stage, they were swept away by the strong current. However, boatmen at the ghat managed to rescue two children alive, while the other two—Taiba and Suraiya—drowned and went missing.
On information, local Fire Service men rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
